The Crown: Volume II is to publish 18  November 2019, the day after the much-anticipated Netflix release of the new series. The second sees Olivia Colman takes over from Claire Foy in the role of Queen Elizabeth II.

Since launching on to screens worldwide in November 2016, The Crownone of the biggest drama series in the world – tells the inside story of the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The landmark series, written and created by Peter Morgan, dramatises her remarkable reign; revealing the personal intrigues, romances and political rivalries behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.

Perminder Mann and Oliver Holden-Rea of Bonnier Books UK acquired The Crown: Volume II as part of a two-book, world all language rights, deal from Michael Foster of Foster and Co Limited on behalf of Left Bank Pictures. Blink published the first book in the series, The Crown: The Inside Historyin October 2017.

A Netflix Original Series produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with Sony Pictures Television, The Crown has received much praise and critical acclaim, winning two Golden Globes Awards, including ‘Best Television Series – Drama’, eight Primetime Emmy Awards, five BAFTAs, and a Special Recognition Award from The Royal Television Society.

Renowned biographer and the show’s historical consultant Robert Lacey takes the reader through the real history that inspired the drama.  Following the TV series’ chronology, covering two tumultuous decades in the reign of Elizabeth II, from the Suez Canal Crisis and the US/Russia space race to rumoured issues with the royal marriage – with a historical flashback to the Duke of Windsor’s collaboration with Hitler. The book will provide a fascinating insight into the two decades that the show covers, revealing the truth behind the on-screen fiction.

Extensively researched and complete with beautifully reproduced photographs, this is a unique look behind the history that inspired the show and the years that would prove to be the making of The Queen.
