Mike Heron, Head of Licensed Publishing for Igloo Books, said: “We are thrilled to receive such a prestigious award after only a year and a half of working with Disney. The last 18 months have been exciting, challenging and rewarding in equal measure and I know that everyone in the business is proud of the part they have played in making this happen. Disney are a fantastic licensor to work with – they are forward thinking, supportive, flexible and extremely open to new, innovative ways of expanding their brand and bringing magical stories to as many readers as possible.
Our aim now is to look forward and build on this moment. With our publishing list growing year-on-year and huge successes such as the incredibly popular Twisted Tales fiction range and our Storybook Collection Advent Calendar (currently with orders of nearly half a million units), we see this as just the start of a long and rewarding relationship.”
Helen Wicks, Executive Publisher for Studio Press, said: “It is an incredible time to be working with the world’s greatest licensor. 2019 is set to be a landmark year for Disney, with the company completing its $71.3 billion (USD) takeover of 21st Century Fox during Bologna Book Fair.
The key to our success has been looking beyond established formats – to redefine and extend the storytelling experience. All our books seek to evolve and innovate, bringing a fresh level of creativity to familiar Disney franchises.”
