On Thursday 29th November, the shortlist for London’s Big Read 2019 was announced.

Launched in 2018, London’s Big Read spotlights talented London authors whose books have significant relevance for London’s multicultural society. Its aim is to inspire Londoners to discover a world of books and each other.

Last year, the theme was Diversity and the winner was June Sarpong for her book Diversify (HQ). The theme for 2019 is Female Empowerment and over the next ten months the campaign is designed to encourage Londoners to get excited about reading, discover new books, and vote for their ‘favourite book of 2019’.

Bonnier Books UK has three books on the shortlist: Maggy Van Eijk’s Remember This When You’re Sad (Lagom), Big Bones by Laura Dockrill (Hot Key Books) and children’s picture book Fearless Mirabelle by Katie Haworth, illustrated by Nila Aye (Templar Books).

Londoners, and visitors to the capital, will be invited to vote online for their favourite book from World Book Day, on the 7th March, through to the 30th June 2019.
