The Ultimate Guide to Growing Dragons takes flight with Piccadilly Press

Piccadilly Press, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired an ‘enchanting’ companion title to Andy Shepherd and Sara Ogilvie’s bestselling The Boy Who Grew Dragons series.

Commissioning Editor Georgia Murrary acquired world rights from Jo Williamson at Antony Harwood and Joe Najman at NB Illustration.

The Ultimate Guide to Growing Dragons is a beautifully crafted mix of story and ’guide’ for all those dragon fans out there. With black and white illustrations throughout from Sara Oglivie, the book will give readers top tips for looking after their own dragons, as well as hearing from Tomas – ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ himself – and his friends about their own dragons.

Andy Shepherd said: ‘Just when I think the dragons have settled down, they fly me off on another adventure! I’ve loved having the opportunity to bring everything Tomas has learned together in this guide, but as always the dragons had lots more story to share. Who knew when I started they’d take me to meet the Quetzalcoatl in Mexico, fly over the Yu Garden in China or that there would be a dragon waiting in the stars to discover. It’s been quite a ride! I hope it’s the perfect companion to the series, both for brand new and expert dragon desperados.’

Georgia Murray commented: ‘I’m delighted to be adding to the irresistible world of The Boy Who Grew Dragons with this enchanting new book, a gem for both fans and new readers alike. We are very lucky to have Andy and her soaring imagination, and Sara and her captivating illustrations, on the Piccadilly list.’

Andy Shepherd is the bestselling author of The Boy Who Grew Dragons series. She lives near Cambridge with her family.

Sara Ogilvie is an award-winning illustrator whose many picture books include The Detective Dog by Julia Donaldson, The Worst Princess by Anna Kemp, and Izzy Gizmo by Pip Jones. Her middle grade fiction includes Phil Earle’s Demolition Dad.

The Boy Who Grew Dragons series has sold over 390,000 copies in paperback audio, and digital and has sold in 24 international territories.

The Ultimate Guide to Growing Dragons will publish 15th September 2022 in paperback, audio and digital with illustrations throughout.
