Bonnier Books UK was a winner at the Nibbies last night, as the International Sales team took home the British Book Award for Export.

Landing the coveted prize after four straight-years on the shortlist, the judges hailed the team’s agility, knowledge and care of booksellers around the world, remarking that “they don’t just sit and wait to be brought a bag of books to sell. They do the absolute best with all the titles they get… there’s a fantastic energy about them.”

It marks the first Nibbies win for BBUK as the celebrations continue in our 10th anniversary year, following hot on the heels of winning the Sustainability Award at the IPG’s Independent Publishing Awards last month.

BBUK was well represented at publishing’s most star-studded night, having secured a company-record eight nominations across categories. The legendary Lynda La Plante was on a six-strong shortlist for Author of the Year, with further nominations in the Book of the Year categories for bestsellers Rosie Goodwin’s Our Fair Lily and Susie Dent’s Guilty by Definition – for Pageturner of the Year and Crime & Thriller respectively.

In the Trade section, the BBUK Children’s Trade team contended for the prestigious Children’s Publisher of the Year, while digital-first imprint Embla was in the running for Imprint of the Year. Ruth Bennett, editorial director of Children’s Fiction, was shortlisted for Editor of the Year, with Children’s Director of Foreign Rights Sharon Miller-Gold recognised in the Rights Professional of the Year category.
