Meet the team

Stella Giatrakou

Rights Director

A true book lover, Stella moved from Athens to London to study for a Master’s degree in Twentieth Century Literature at Goldsmiths College. Her career has taken her from leading literary agencies to major publishers. Following a stint on the V&A’s publishing team, she joined Bonnier Books UK in 2019 and has led the rights team since 2022. In 2024, she was shortlisted for the Rights Professional of the Year at the British Book Awards. She speaks Greek and French and has some grasp of Spanish and Italian. Her happy place is on the beach with an escapist paperback in hand…

Stella sells rights in North America, Germany, France and Greece.

Ilaria Tarasconi

Senior Rights Manager

Ilaria Tarasconi is Italian and studied English and German Literature at the University of Verona and Oxford University. She also completed a Master’s in Literary Translation at the University of Pisa. Before moving to London in 2012, she translated a few books into Italian including The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Lola Shoneyin, which was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction (and is one of the best books of all times).

After working for a while at literary agencies, she joined Bonnier Books UK in 2016 and has worked in the rights department since. Besides reading, she loves cycling and spending as much time outdoors as possible when the sun is shining.

Ilaria looks after Italy, the Netherlands, China, Taiwan, and Japan and also handles screen adaptation rights.

Amy Smith

Rights Manager

After graduating from UCL with a BA in German and Russian, Amy began her publishing career as a Rights Assistant at Bonnier Books UK in 2020.

One of her favourite parts of the job is reading across a wide range of genres. She is particularly drawn to commercial fiction, from romance and smart thrillers to standout book club reads. She has a keen interest in current affairs and popular science – essentially books that allow us to understand the world in an accessible way. She also has an ever‑growing cookbook collection, despite running out of shelf space!

Amy is responsible for selling translation rights in Scandinavia, Poland, Portugal, Brazil, Romania, the Baltics, Ukraine and Israel, and also handles UK and North American audio rights.

Tamara Coulthard

Senior Rights Executive

Originally from Edinburgh, Tamara studied English Literature with Spanish at Newcastle University before undertaking a Master’s in Publishing at the University of Exeter. She joined Bonnier Books UK in February 2024 after spending some time in South America and later working for a communications company. When she’s not working, you’ll often find her curled up with a good book or planning her next adventure. She speaks Spanish and is learning Italian (slowly) and is a big fan of translated fiction and page-turning thrillers.

Tamara looks after Spain and Latin America, Czechia, Hungary, Korea, Slovakia, South-East Asia and Turkey.

Hristo Karastoyanov

Rights Executive

Hristo was born in Bulgaria and split his adolescent years between Sofia and New York City before studying Philosophy and Politics at the University of Glasgow. After a couple of internships, he joined Bonnier Books UK in September 2024. He is a keen reader of literature in translation and the occasional classic. The highlight of his year, much to his colleagues’ dismay, is the Frankfurt Book Fair. He speaks Bulgarian and (he’d like to think) German.

Hristo handles translation rights across Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and the Arab World, as well as assisting the rest of the team.
