Bonnier Books UK enhances family leave policy among raft of new staff benefits

Bonnier Books UK has enhanced its family leave offering for all staff, as it introduces a number of new initiatives to bolster its programme of staff benefits, boost well-being, support working parents, and foster ever greater inclusivity across the business.

The company introduced equal family leave in 2022 – with all staff with at least 2 years of service given the opportunity to take up to 6 months of fully paid leave regardless of gender or pathway to parenthood.

It has now strengthened this offering to ensure it is accessible to the widest possible number of colleagues, with equal family leave now available to all staff after just 26 weeks of service – the current qualifying period for statutory pay.

The announcement comes alongside a number of additional staff benefits, including extra holiday awarded for long service milestones, the chance to buy additional holiday each year, and company-funded gym membership.

Anna MacLaren May, HR director, said: “It’s been exciting to announce these new benefits, and which form part of our ambition to cultivate a supportive workplace that empowers our people to grow, excel, and reach their full potential.”

Sarah Benton and Jonathan Perdoni, co-CEOs of Bonnier Books UK, added: “Expanding our family leave offering was one of the first proposals we discussed upon becoming co-CEOs as we look to remove as many barriers as possible for working parents and their families, and ensure that they’re wholly supported during this momentous phase of their lives. As a company, Bonnier Books UK has become known for our inclusive culture and pioneering flexibility across our first decade, and we have no intention of taking our foot off the pedal in our 10th anniversary year and beyond to ensure that we remain a truly best-in-class workplace.”

The new policies join a range of established staff benefits at Bonnier Books UK, with staff given flexible working and flexible hours from day one of employment, access to private health insurance, and an employee assistance programme available to all employees and their families.
