Ink Road signals ambitions with six brand new acquisitions

Ink Road, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK aimed at YA and New Adult audiences, is excited to announce a string of acquisitions set to publish over the coming year.

In total, six new titles have been acquired by Ruth Bennett, editorial director at Ink Road – the first announced by the imprint since it became part of Bonnier Books UK’s Children’s Trade division earlier this year.

First to publish will be Predatory Natures by Amy Goldsmith, a Young Adult botanical-horror novel set on a luxury train crossing Europe carrying mysterious and deadly cargo. UK & Commonwealth rights for a two-book deal were acquired from Louise Lamont at LBA on behalf of Claire Friedman at InkWell Management.

Fantasy is set to play a major role on the imprint’s upcoming list with the acquisitions of Red as Royal Blood by Elizabeth Hart, an original thriller that combines courtly intrigue, succession drama, and romance; and Angela Montoya’s Carnival Fantástico, an unputdownable romantasy set within a magical travelling circus.

UK & Commonwealth rights for Red as Royal Blood were won at auction from Charlotte Bodman at Rights People on behalf of Alloy Entertainment; while UK & Commonwealth rights for Carnival Fantástico were acquired from Hannah Babcock at Random House Children’s Books US.

Ink Road will also be publishing the New Adult debut, Fake Out Make Out by Kate Williams. The book combines high-stakes espionage and all-consuming attraction set within the glamorous but deadly world of a global endurance racing events company that is a front for clandestine operations. Bennett acquired World English rights from Isabel Lineberry on behalf of Kristina Pérez at Pérez Literary & Entertainment.

And in a final high-octane acquisition, YA debut The Fast Track by Angelica Cheng, will offer a fresh spin on the racing track romance genre, following rookie driver Justine Kwong as she defies doubters to prove her talent as a female driver of colour. UK & Commonwealth rights were won at auction from Hannah Schofield at LBA on behalf of Claire Friedman at InkWell Management.

Ruth Bennett said: “This series of new acquisitions showcase the vibrant range of Young Adult and New Adult writing on offer from Ink Road! Reading for pleasure is central to the books we publish, and it is just as crucial for Young Adults and those entering adulthood as it is for younger readers. What a plethora of fun and unputdownable stories we have for readers to discover! From returning authors to list, such as UK folk-horror talent Amy Goldsmith and the unmissable romantasy writer Angela Montoya, to brand-new voices Elizabeth Hart, Kate Williams and Angelica Chang. Every single one of these Ink Road books aims to provide readers with a story that they can immerse themselves in and enjoy!”

Helen Wicks, managing director for BBUK’s Children’s Trade Division said: “Ink Road is built to be nimble – an exciting, responsive imprint that can seize opportunities, champion standout voices, and stay firmly ahead of the curve. This is an exciting, fast-evolving space, and we’re committed to publishing that’s as dynamic and daring as the readers it’s for. These acquisitions set a brilliant benchmark: bold, escapist, and brimming with energy.”
