Perminder Mann appointed as Chair of Consumer Publisher’s Council

Bonnier Books UK CEO Perminder Mann appointed as the new Chair of the Publisher’s Association’s Consumer Publisher’s Council. Her appointment to the position was announced yesterday (14 May 2020) at the Publisher’s Association AGM.

The Consumer Publisher’s Council (CPC) is a decision-making board comprising senior executives from across the industry. The previous Chair of the CPC was David Shelley, CEO of Hachette UK.

The CPC is a forum for publishers to drive change and discuss important issues impacting the future of consumer publishing. This may include consideration of legislative and policy changes, communications campaigns, services initiatives, and obstacles impacting the sector. The council also guides and advises Publisher’s Association staff on sector impacts, positions they wish the association to take on behalf of the industry, the delegation of project work and the establishment of sub-groups to tackle projects.

The group regularly engages with other publishing industry bodies (Association of Authors’ Agents, Society of Authors, Booksellers Association and Society of Chief Librarians) as well as creative industry bodies and literacy charities.

About the Publisher’s Association

The Publisher’s Association is the member organisation for UK publishing, representing companies of all sizes and specialisms. Members produce digital and print books, research journals and educational resources across genres and subjects.

Established in 1896, the association works to ensure the value of publishing and the contribution it makes culturally and economically is understood. The association aims to do this by building a strong evidence base, as well as by liaising with governments across the world about key policies and laws that impact and support publishing. Work encompasses campaigns, policy, public affairs and research, as well as providing a range of key member services including export and content protection support.
