Lagom acquires breastfeeding manual by Chantelle Edmunds

Bonnier Books UK imprint Lagom has acquired a comprehensive breastfeeding manual written by Instagram star, Chantelle Edmunds. Beth Eynon, editor at Bonnier Books UK, acquired World All Language rights direct from the author.

The book will be an up-to-date, clear and supportive breastfeeding guide for new parents, guiding mums with personal stories and expert advice.

Chantelle believes that every parent should feed their baby in whichever way they think is best, and it is her mission in life to make sure mums have as much information as possible when thinking about breastfeeding. This book is her way of doing just that, and is written with the support and know-how of a certified lactation consultant to make sure it is as up-to-date as possible.

“I could not be prouder that Bonnier Books UK will be publishing the superstar that is Chantelle Edmunds … I have never met anyone who feels more strongly about parents, and especially mothers, being properly supported throughout their parenting journey.”

In Chantelle’s signature down-to-earth style, the book will act as an easy to understand guide, covering: preparing before birth, what to expect in the early days, help with breastfeeding in public and going back to work, as well as milestones to reach, problems to look out for and solutions to common difficulties.

Chantelle is a mum to three beautiful girls, and has herself experienced traumatic births. She will share her experience of mental health, tandem-feeding her twins, and the judgement she had to push through – including from family and friends.

Chantelle Edmunds is from Canvey Island in Essex. She started an Instagram account to document her pregnancy with twins, which now has over 75,000 followers. As soon as Chantelle started posting about her breastfeeding experience, she received a huge amount of questions from her followers. Having breastfed all of her children, Chantelle now wants to share years’ worth of accumulated knowledge.

“I want my book to reach out and speak to all mums, make them feel supported when they may lack that support around them. I want them to feel full of knowledge and, most importantly, I want them to feel inspired and confident to feed their babies how they want to.”

She is an Association of Breastfeeding Mother’s ‘Mother Support’ worker, helping new mums who have chosen to breastfeed. She is also becoming an ambassador for a charity which aims to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, all over the world.

Beth Eynon, Editor at Blink Publishing, said: “I could not be prouder that Bonnier Books UK will be publishing the superstar that is Chantelle Edmunds. Ever since first meeting her, Chantelle’s passion for knowledge and sharing it with others astounded me. I have never met anyone who feels more strongly about parents, and especially mothers, being properly supported throughout their parenting journey.”

She is a staunch supporter of parents feeding their baby however they feel is best so, with no judgement, Chantelle provides the clear support new parents need at this time. After receiving thousands of messages asking for breastfeeding advice, I hope this book becomes a useful tool for those trying to work out if breastfeeding is for them. Modern, funny, understandable – what more could you want from a book as a new parent?’

Chantelle said: ‘‘Often, breastfeeding books are very formal and not personal to the reader. I want my book to reach out and speak to all mums, make them feel supported when they may lack that support around them. I want them to feel full of knowledge and, most importantly, I want them to feel inspired and confident to feed their babies how they want to. My book will be with them every step of the way, when they are doubting themselves, when they are having a bad day, when they have problems they want to overcome – I have been there and overcome it. If I can do it, they can do it, and we are in this together.’
