Sarah Benton has spent twenty years working across multiple different publishers and genres, working with internationally bestselling brand authors along with launching market leading debuts. She began her career in marketing and publicity, launching and growing authors such as Julia Donaldson, Oliver Jeffers, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly, George RR Martin and Candice Carty-Williams. She joined Hachette’s Orion in 2016, where she was deputy MD playing a vital role in leading the company to win Publisher of the Year in 2021, mid-pandemic. She then became executive publisher for fiction, overseeing the commercial imprints and publishing authors such as Joanne Harris and Leigh Bardugo.
As MD of The Zaffre Publishing Group she has strategic responsibility for the company’s flagship adult fiction and non-fiction imprints: Zaffre, Manilla, Blink, John Blake and Lagom and is committed to publishing books that represent all readers in the market.
She lives in East London with her husband, young daughter and their two cats and also tries to fit in running the occasional 10k.
