LEAP, the imprint of Bonnier Books UK focusing on inspiring and informing positive change, has announced the appointment of George Brooker as Editorial Director.
George joined Hachette in 2019 as an Editorial Assistant at Octopus and rose to senior commissioning editor at Orion/Seven Dials, where he commissioned stand out bestsellers, such as Emily English’s So Good and her follow-up Live to Eat, currently at number one in the non-fiction chart.
George is a passionate foodie and an expert in colour publishing. He will help develop LEAP’s colour list and also commission across a wide range of subjects for the imprint’s mono publishing.
Carole Tonkinson, publisher of LEAP, said: “I’m thrilled to make my first hire for LEAP, bringing on George Brooker as Editorial Director starting in mid-July 2025. I’ve been watching George’s commissioning from afar and am thrilled he is joining us at LEAP.”
George Brooker added: “I couldn’t be more excited for a new chapter at Bonnier Books UK, and to work alongside Carole and the LEAP team to continue building an innovative list of non-fiction to inspire, inform and spark change. I’d like to say thank you to Hachette, where I started my career and who have given me brilliant opportunities to grow as a publisher, with special thanks to Orion and the Seven Dials team.”
LEAP launched in January 2025 and quickly established itself as a list that sparks cultural conversations, highlights important issues and platforms individuals who are beacons of hope and change. Authors on the list include Caroline Darian (the daughter of Gisele Pelicot), Marie Kondo, Joe Wicks and Poorna Bell. The LEAP list aims to speak to our need to grow and change both as individuals and the need for positive, collective change.
George will start in the new role in mid-July, reporting directly into Carole Tonkinson.
