BBUK shortlisted at the Independent Publishers Awards following record 8 British Book Award nominations

Bonnier Books UK has been shortlisted for two awards at the IPG’s Independent Publishers Awards, capping a flurry of nominations across the business this awards season.

BBUK has been shortlisted for the World of Books Sustainability Award, recognising the company’s progress in the fight against the climate crisis, and the reduction in GHG emissions achieved across the Bonnier Books Group.

The audio team also received a nod in the Zebralution Audio Award category for the acclaimed audio edition of Tam Kaur’s Buy Yourself the Damn Flowers. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London later this month.

It follows the recent reveal of the British Book Awards shortlists, with BBUK securing nominations in eight categories, a new record tally for the company.

The legendary Lynda La Plante is on a six-strong shortlist for Author of the Year, with further nominations in the Book of the Year categories for bestsellers Rosie Goodwin’s Our Fair Lily and Susie Dent’s Guilty by Definition – up for Pageturner of the Year and Crime & Thriller respectively.

In the Trade section, the BBUK Children’s Trade team is in the running for the prestigious Children’s Publisher of the Year, while digital-first imprint Embla will compete for Imprint of the Year after a stellar year.

Ruth Bennett, editorial director of Children’s Fiction, has been shortlisted for Editor of the Year following a year that included the publication of Nathanael Lessore’s Waterstones Children’s Book Prize-winning King of Nothing; Children’s Director of Foreign Rights Sharon Miller-Gold has been recognised in the Rights Professional of the Year category, praised for her empathy and innovation; and the International Sales team secured its fourth straight nomination for The British Book Award for Export.
