Bonnier Books UK celebrates Lynda La Plante as Queen of Crime Drama delivers final volume in bestselling Jack Warr series

The team across Bonnier Books UK gathered at Lynda La Plante’s house last night for a wonderful annual barbeque event to celebrate the legendary author and the publisher’s long-standing partnership with the Queen of Crime Drama.

Copies of the paperback edition of Crucified decorated the venue in preparation for its publication last week. The penultimate novel in the bestselling Detective Jack Warr thriller series was published to acclaim upon release in hardback ealier this year.

And guests saw Lynda hand over the manuscript of the hotly-anticipated final Jack Warr book, Sacrifice, to Bonnier Books UK co-CEO Sarah Benton. It will be published next March by Ben Willis, publisher at the company’s flagship commercial fiction imprint Zaffre.

As Lynda La Plante said: “Saying goodbye to a character is always difficult, but I couldn’t hand it to a more talented team than that at my publishers, Bonnier Books UK. My final Jack Warr novel, Sacrifice, is now in very good hands.”

Sarah Benton said: “Our sales of Lynda’s books are up almost 10% year on year. We’ve sold a massive 370,000 copies across all markets and formats this year alone and launched a brand new series (The Scene of the Crime) which was another bestseller across UK, Ireland and Australia. Jack Warr is such a fan favourite, and we all can’t wait to know what’s in store for him as we look to the finale in 2026. Lynda is a true icon and we are endlessly proud to be her publisher.”

Over 1.1m copies of the Jack Warr series have been sold to date. With over 50 bestselling novels, over 5m copies sold in the UK alone, and the recipent of the prestigious CWA Diamond Dagger, Lynda La Plante is truly crime fiction royalty.
