New CEO of Bonnier Group and new Chairman of the Board

Stina Andersson will take over as the new CEO of Bonnier Group, the parent company of the Bonnier Group. She is currently Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Axel Johnson and is a member of Group Management.

Stina has solid experience of investment operations and business development in a number of large and successful companies, says Bengt Braun, Chairman of the Board of Bonnier Group. She has also worked in both stock exchange and family business environments. Her background fits hand in glove in our new structure of an investment company character and with the Group’s now historically strong financial situation that enables new investments. I am very happy to be able to welcome Stina to us.

Stina Andersson is currently a board member of several of the larger companies in the Axel Johnson Group, including Axfood, Dustin and Axel Johnson International. She is also deeply involved in Novax, Axel Johnson’s investment operations, and as Chairman of the Board of newly established AxSol, which invests in solar energy companies. Before Axel Johnson, Stina worked as strategy and business development manager at Tele2 and with investments and strategy at Kinnevik. In both companies, she was part of the group management. At the beginning of her career, Stina Andersson was a management consultant at McKinsey.

Stina Andersson said: “I am really looking forward to being a part of Bonnier. Bonnier has a strong foundation of values in free speech and an important democratic mission. The group is a leader in many industries and has many companies with an exciting development that I look forward to being a part of. My focus will otherwise be investments and acquisitions where we want to establish Bonnier in some new areas with good growth potential.”

Bengt Braun, Chairman of the Board of Bonnier Group, has declined re-election after 32 years on the Parent Company’s Board. Erik Haegerstrand, current CEO of Bonnier Group, will be proposed as the new Chairman of the Board.

Erik Haegerstrand has worked at Bonnier for many years, including at Dagens Nyheter, TV4 and Bonnier Corp in the USA. Since 2013, he has been the CEO of the Group’s parent company.

Erik Haegerstrand said: “The Group’s earnings have improved significantly in recent years, which together with a strong balance sheet provides the conditions for acting offensively. The decentralized way of working has contributed to both better profitability and quick decisions.”

Bonnier brings together the Nordic region’s leading media companies with over 200 years of experience in changing media markets. The Group also includes Bonnier Fastigheter, which owns, manages and develops commercial properties with a focus on the Stockholm area. In addition, investments and capital investments are made within the framework of Bonnier Group.

Bonnier is based in Sweden, is present in 12 countries and is wholly owned by the Bonnier family. Sales in 2020 were 20.8 billion with an operating profit of just over 1.4 billion. About 8,400 people work within the group.

Stina Andersson will take office on 1 September. Bengt Braun and Erik Haegerstrand remain in their current roles until then.
