Bonnier Books UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Megan Smith as Managing Director of mass-market publisher Igloo Books.

Megan brings with her a wealth of experience and a track record of success from her time as Group Non-Trade Sales Director at Hachette UK, where she was instrumental in driving significant growth both in the UK and internationally. Megan has also held key roles at Penguin Random House UK, the BBC, and Pan Macmillan, cementing her reputation as a creative and strategic leader.

Reflecting on her new role, Megan Smith said: “For many years, I’ve been hugely impressed by Igloo’s energy, reach, and values, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the team and contributing to its ongoing success. Igloo’s ability to inspire retailers and consumers alike is exceptional. While I’m excited about the future, I’m deeply grateful to my colleagues at Hachette UK and the incredible Non-Trade Sales team for their support and collaboration over the years. I will miss them dearly.”

Perminder Mann, CEO of Bonnier Books UK, shared her enthusiasm for Megan’s appointment: “Megan’s collaborative spirit, entrepreneurial mindset, and inspiring leadership made her stand out. Her vision, innovation, and passion will be key to driving Igloo’s continued growth. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team and are confident she will be a fantastic leader for the future of Igloo Books.”

In another exciting development, Dean Cornish, a 15-year veteran at Igloo Books, has been promoted to the newly created role of Deputy Managing Director. Dean has been a cornerstone of Igloo’s success, and his leadership will continue to be essential as the company evolves.

Alongside these leadership appointments, there have also been several internal promotions within Igloo’s team, highlighting the company’s commitment to nurturing its talented leaders.

Dean will officially assume his new role in December, coinciding with Megan’s arrival. Both will work closely with outgoing COO Darren Witherall during a handover period to ensure a smooth transition and maintain Igloo’s momentum.
