Piccadilly Press, part of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired an enchanting three book series for 7-9 year olds, from debut author Simon Mockler and illustrated by Cherie Zamazing.
Georgia Murray, Commissioning Editor at Bonnier Zaffre, acquired world and translation rights including ebook and audio from Chloe Seager at Northbank Talent Management.
Murray said: “Simon’s writing knocked my socks off when I read it – he has the most wonderfully funny and natural voice and this is a delightful young fiction series that feels both classic and fresh.”
Seager said: “As soon as I started reading Beatrix the Bold, I fell in love with Simon Mockler’s fearless, smart and funny heroine. I’m so pleased she and Simon have found the perfect home with Piccadilly Press and I can’t wait for readers to fall in love with her as well.”

This new series full of humour, heart and silliness features bold and brilliant young heroine Beatrix and her trusty sidekicks Wilfred the Wise, Oi the Boy and Dog the Dog. With shades of Mr Gum, Shrek and The Princess Bride, this is a fairy tale parody with a vibrant fresh feel.
Mockler said: “I’m really excited to be working with the fantastic team at Piccadilly Press on these three books and can’t wait for Beatrix the Bold to be launched into the world.”
Simon Mockler studied art at Camberwell Art College and Modern Languages at Cambridge. He has worked as an artist, musician, teacher and civil servant and now works as a consumer law and advertising specialist. He lives in South London with his wife and two children, who keep asking him what he wants to be when he grows up.
Beatrix the Bold and the Curse of the Wobblers is due to publish in the UK and Ireland on April 4th 2019 with the second and third books set to follow in September 2019 and February 2020.
