Piccadilly Press, an imprint of Bonnier Books UK, is thrilled to announce the acquisition of an unmissable new graphic novel series: Ghost and Toast by Phil Corbett, creator of the Kitty Quest series. This hilarious series is perfect for fans of Bunny vs Monkey and Doughnut Club.
Ruth Bennett, editorial director at Piccadilly Press, acquired World rights from Helen Boyle at Pickled Ink.
Ghost and Toast live in a haunted mansion alongside the mysterious Mr Borloff and a host of other creatures, including a horde of evil pastries. Their adventures centre around their unconventional friendship, investigating the strange portal being a door in the castle, and getting up to mischief with their neighbours!
Phil Corbett says: “I’m dead excited to be working with Piccadilly Press on this tiny ghost/talking slice of toast series and thank them for allowing me to create a comic extravaganza around my two greatest passions: the paranormal and grilled bread. I’ve been laughing at these stories as I’ve been writing them so if anyone else finds these even half as funny as I do, they’ll be in for a massive giggle. I’m hoping readers will take Ghost & Toast to their collective hearts and get a real kick from their over-the-top bizarre adventures.”
Ruth Bennett, editorial director at Piccadilly Press, said: “When it comes to graphic novels, Phil is one of the best in the business and we know that kids will be howling with laughter when they meet the unforgettable duo that is Ghost and Toast. At a time when reading enjoyment is at the forefront of everyone’s minds, I could not think of a better project to press into the hands of young people and show them that books can be pure silliness and top-notch fun!”
Born in England, Phil Corbett now lives above a comic shop in France. Which works for him as he loves comics (and croissants). When he’s not making comics or reading comics or telling people about comics, he sometimes does cool stuff for companies such as Cartoon Network, Disney, Nickelodeon and Nintendo. He was the last person to write and illustrate the adventures of one of the oldest comic characters in the world, Korky the Cat, from the UK comic The Dandy. He is the creator of the Kitty Quest comic graphic novel series and has worked in the gaming and toy industry. @squidlingking
Ghost and Toast: Slice to Meet You will be publishing in paperback on 26th September, followed bythe next books in the series in 2027 and 2028.
