Bonnier Books UK has appointed Rob Power to head up marketing and publicity for its children’s and YA trade division.
Power was most recently senior publicity and marketing manager at David Fickling Books where he delivered campaigns for bestselling authors and titles from Jamie Smart to Michael Morpurgo and Sir Paul Nurse. Prior to that, he was deputy publishing manager at Rebellion Publishing, the award-winning publishing arm of leading European games development company, Rebellion.
In this newly-created role, Power will lead the children’s publicity and marketing team, overseeing campaigns across the children’s and YA division, including award-winning imprints Big Picture Press, Piccadilly Press, Hot Key Books, Studio Press and Templar Books.
Power said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Bonnier Books UK. Their lists are packed with everything I love about children’s publishing: amazing stories, mind-blowing non-fiction, incredibly talented authors and illustrators, and some of the most exciting brands in the world. Emilie Marneur and the team have a fantastically creative and forward-thinking approach, and I’m really looking forward to working with them all. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
Marneur commented: “I‘m thrilled to welcome Rob to the team. This role and the times we’re in present lots of exciting opportunities for engaging with book lovers and buyers of all ages, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to take on this challenge. Rob’s been instrumental in driving David Fickling Books’ digital offering and innovation, and was at the forefront of expanding Rebellion’s book publishing programme. He is deeply commercial, reader-focused, and will bring boundless energy to our team.”
Helen Wicks, children’s managing director, added: “Power’s breadth of experience and unique blend of creativity and analytical skills make him the perfect person to lead marketing and publicity for our diverse range of children’s imprints. He is passionate about the importance of children’s books and reading which aligns beautifully with our core company values at BBUK. We look forward to him and his team driving through some exciting and innovative strategies.”
Power joins the company in September, reporting into Emilie Marneur, Digital & Business Development Director.
