Manilla Press, the literary imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has announced that actress Tanya Reynolds will narrate the audiobook version of Jessica Moor’s new novel, Young Women.
Tanya Reynolds is best-known for her leading role as ‘Lily’ in Netflix’s Sex Education and playing ‘Mrs Elton’ to Josh O’Connor’s ‘Mr Elton’ in the 2020 film adaptation of Emma starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Mia Goth and Bill Nighy. Reynolds is soon to be seen as the lead in Channel 4 comedy drama I Hate You.
After joining Tanya in the studio for part of the recording, Jessica Moor said: ‘I’m so thrilled that an actor of Tanya’s range and intelligence is bringing Young Women to life. Listening to her reading in Emily’s voice was electrifying, and I can’t wait for this beautiful recording to be shared with audio lovers.’
Laura Marlow, editor – audio at Bonnier Books UK, added: ‘The audio team knew Tanya would be the perfect fit for this remarkable novel and to see her in action was utterly mesmerising. Tanya’s performance is truly compelling – not only in the way she evokes the intoxicating and alluring Soho setting, enticing listeners into Tamsin’s world, but also in the way she so effortlessly captures the nuances of the complex friendship between Tamsin and Emily at the heart of the novel.’
Young Women is the ‘utterly engrossing’ second novel from Moor, who was named an Observer debut novelist of the year in 2020 and is ‘one of the most exciting new voices of the decade’ according to author Erin Kelly. Vivid, bold, and compelling, Young Women is a razor sharp novel that slices to the heart of our most important relationships, and asks how complicit we all are in this world built for men.
This ‘ambitious and arresting’ novel has already garnered much praise and attention, with a flurry of endorsements from authors including Erin Kelly, Kate Sawyer, Beth Underdown, Hanna Jameson and many more, as well as early reviews in Stylist, RED and Prima Magazine.
Young Women will be published in the UK and Ireland on 26th May in hardback, audio, and eBook.
