Stacey Halls celebrates half a million books sold
Bonnier Books UK imprint Manilla Press is thrilled to announce that it has now sold 500,000 copies of Stacey Halls’ novels. This is across all editions of her two titles – The Familiars and The Foundling– in just two years.
Since publishing her standout debut, The Familiars in February 2019, Stacey Halls has quickly established herself as one of the most exciting and successful historical fiction authors of recent years. Described by Cosmopolitan as “the new Hilary Mantel”, both The Familiars and her second novel The Foundling (2020) were Sunday Times bestsellers in both hardback and paperback editions.
Hall’s highly-anticipated third novel, Mrs England, publishes 10th June 2021 under the imprint Manilla Press. Simmering with slow-burning menace, Mrs England is a portrait of an Edwardian marriage, weaving an enthralling story of men and women, power and control, courage, truth and the very darkest deception. Hailed as her “most ambitious and beguiling” novel to date, Mrs England will be supported by a major integrated publicity and marketing campaign.
Stacey Halls said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled that my books have found so many readers, and would never have dreamed of reaching this milestone, let alone so early in my career. I feel incredibly lucky to be published by the whole team at Bonnier whose boundless enthusiasm, skill and innovation never fail to impress me, and I’m very excited to see what the future brings.’
Sophie Orme, Publishing Director, Zaffre and Manilla Press said: ‘It’s been a complete joy to publish Stacey Halls. When we were chosen to publish The Familiars I couldn’t believe my luck – and I still thank my lucky stars every day that I get to work with such an incredible new talent in historical fiction. To have reached this amazing milestone is the absolute cherry on the cake – and a testament to both Stacey’s wonderful novels and the creativity and hard work of the entire team at Bonnier Books UK. Readers are in for an absolute treat when we publish Mrs England next month. It is Stacey’s most ambitious and beguiling novel yet.’
