Templar Books donates When Mummy Goes to Work to Ambulance staff across the UK

Templar Books, Bonnier Books UK’s award-winning children’s trade imprint, has donated 300 copies of When Mummy Goes to Work by Paul Schofield and Anna Terreros-Martin, to ambulance staff across the UK.

Templar has teamed up with The Ambulance Staff Charity to get the books into the hands of ambulance staff, as a gesture of thanks for all their hard work as the nation enters a second winter in the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ambulance Staff Charity works to provide current and former ambulance staff, their close family members, and UK ambulance service volunteers with access to mental health support, physical rehabilitation and financial guidance services when they are in need.

When Mummy Goes to Work by Paul Schofield is a gentle rhyming text, reminding little ones how much their parents think of them while they are at work. The ideal gift book for anyone who is returning to work after the birth of a new child, the book features an ambulance driver throughout, and is drawn by emerging artistic talent Anna Terreros-Martin.

Speaking directly to ambulance staff, Paul Schofield and Anna Terreros-Martin said: “From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU – it takes a truly special person to do what you do and help so many people, and we hope you enjoy this gift with your family.”

Senior Commissioning Editor, Ruth Symons commented: “We’re so thankful for the incredible work that ambulance staff have done during this pandemic. When Mummy Goes to Work is all about a busy ambulance driver and her child, so we hope that families like hers will enjoy reading this story together over the festive season. It feels like a fitting gift for all those hard-working mummies (and daddies) who have helped so many people in need this year.”

A spokesperson for the charity said: “The Ambulance Staff Charity are delighted that Templar Books is donating 300 copies of the children’s book When Mummy Goes to Work this Christmas to give out to our hardworking Ambulance staff. This book will resonate with our Ambulance community and is a wonderful story for kids to read and understand more about the work of a paramedic. As we all know the Ambulance staff have one of the most stressful jobs in the UK, and the continuing and long-term impacts of Coronavirus are making their job that much harder. This act of kindness will be very much appreciated and for that we are truly grateful.”
