Phillips and Stead promoted to newly-created publisher roles

Bonnier Books UK announces two key editiorial promotions to further strengthen its trade publishing.

Matt Phillips has been promoted to publisher of the company’s adult non-fiction imprints, Blink and John Blake, and Margaret Stead has been promoted to publisher of Zaffre and soon-to-be-lauched literary imprint Manilla.

“Both Matt and Margaret have made a huge contribution to the success of our publishing over the last year and I could not be more grateful to them for their support. I look forward to continuing to work with them closely to build on everything we have achieved together so far.”

Kate Parkin, M.D. of Adult Trade Publishing

Phillips has been publishing director of Blink for three years, joining the company from Penguin Random House’s sports imprint Yellow Jersey where he published two winners of the prestigious William Hill Award and Bradley Wiggins’ acclaimed bestselling autobiography. His recent successes at Blink include the F2 football series, which has sold more than 400,000 copies and Sunday Times bestsellers Life to the Limit by Jenson Button and Break Point by Ollie Ollerton.

Stead joined Zaffre as publishing director in August 2018. Previously editorial director at the Harvill Press, publishing director at Atlantic Books, and publishing director at Penguin Press, she has more than 20 years’ experience as a commissioning editor of both fiction and non-fiction. Authors she has published include Henning Mankell, Richard Ford, Haruki Murakami, Christos Tsiolkas, Patrick Flanery, Damon Galgut, Christopher Hitchens, AN Wilson, Alistair Darling, and Vince Cable.

Kate Parkin, M.D of Adult Trade Publishing, Bonnier Books UK said: “I’m delighted to announce these well-deserved promotions. Both Matt and Margaret have made a huge contribution to the success of our publishing over the last year and I could not be more grateful to them for their support.
