The Women’s Prize x Good Housekeeping Futures Award highlights the next generation of female writers and celebrates the centenary of the magazine.
Since publishing her breakout debut, The Familiars in February 2019, Stacey Halls has established herself as one of the most exciting and successful writers of historical fiction of recent times. Bonnier Books UK has sold over half a million copies of her first two novels across all editions under its flagship literary fiction imprint Manilla Press, while her beguiling latest Mrs England was a Waterstones Best Book of 2021 and Sunday Times bestseller.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping, Stacey Halls commented: “I hope to continue to tell stories about women in the past that bring them into the present. For too long women have existed in the margins of history, and I feel it’s my duty to bring them out and onto the page.”
Halls sits on an all-star shortlist that includes Man Booker Prize-shortlisted Daisy Johnson, Portico Prize-winner Jessica Andrews and the bestselling British Book Award-winner Candice Carty-Williams. The finalists were selected by a high-profile judging panel featuring the likes of Kate Mosse, Naga Munchetty, and Good Housekeeping books editor Joanne Finney.
The winner will be decided by the public and announced in the magazine’s December 2022 edition.
