Bonnier Books UK has landed seven nominations at the An Post Irish Book Awards 2023, celebrating the very best in Irish literary talent.
Eriu led the way with four nominations, capping an extraordinary first full year of publishing for our Dublin-based imprint dedicated to bringing ‘brilliant, beautiful and brave’ books with Irish roots into the world.
Dr Tony Holohan’s We Need to Talk is in contention for Biography of the Year; Born to be a Footballer by the legendary Liam Brady will compete for Sports Book of the Year; Miriam Mulcahy’s elegiac This is My Sea is up for Lifestyle Book of the Year; and Molly Hennigan’s The Celestial Realm is nominated for Newcomer of the Year.
Publishing Director Deirdre Nolan said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Eriu has received four nominations in our first full year of publishing. It’s testament to the talent of our authors, each one of whom fully deserves their place on the shortlist. Roll on November and Awards night!“
There is recognition too for our Hot Key Books and Piccadilly Press imprints, with Deirdre Sullivan’s Wise Creatures and Sinead O’Hart’s The Silver Road featured in the Teen & Young Adult of the Year and Children’s Book of the Year (Senior) categories respectively. While Black & White Publishing scored a well-deserved nomination for Lifestyle Book of the Year with The Hike Life by broadcaster Rozanna Purcell
The winners will be decided by a combination of online public vote and academy vote and will be announced at the Convention Centre Dublin on November 22nd. Readers can vote for their favourite titles here.
