Dan Herron has been promoted to the newly-formed role of Contracts & Business Affairs Director at Bonnier Books UK, joining the company’s leadership board.
Herron will lead the strategic, legal and commercial management of rights, contracts and business affairs across the Bonnier Books UK group.
Under Herron’s direction, these responsibilities – previously split between the Adult and Children’s divisions – are now combined into a single function. This will drive long-term group-wide collaboration, improved knowledge sharing and closer alignment with the company’s business strategy. His ascent to the leadership board reflects the increasing importance and breadth of this work across the wider organisation and his impact on the business to date.
Bringing a wealth of commercial experience from his work for major publishers, literary agencies, a West End production house, and a stint as a Waterstones bookseller, Herron joined Bonnier early last year from Hachette UK as Head of Contracts & Business Affairs for its Adult Trade division. He has since brought under contract authors including Joe Wicks, Mary Earps, Anton du Beke, and many others.
Jonathan Perdoni, co-CEO at Bonnier Books UK, said: “Dan’s impact since joining cannot be overstated – he has proven to be a calm and collegiate leader, an approachable font of knowledge across the wider business, and a highly-respected point of contact for our authors and agents. It was the right time to bring this critical work together into one function under Dan’s direction, as part of our ongoing drive towards greater group-wide collaboration. We’re delighted to welcome Dan onto the leadership board, and excited to see him shape this vital strategic role, strengthening and supporting the business for future commercial growth.”
