Embla Books takes two more from crime bestseller Caroline Mitchell

Embla Books, the digital-first commercial fiction imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has signed a deal for two more books with bestselling crime author Caroline Mitchell.
Publishing Director Jane Snelgrove took world English language rights for all formats from Madeleine Milburn at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, Film & TV Agency.

Coming first is The Bone House – the chilling third title in the bestselling Slayton Thriller series. When hundreds of birds fall like a black cloud into Slayton’s lake, the phenomenon is labelled an anomaly of nature. But Cora Hart knows exactly what it is: the start of the reckoning… And when the lake is dredged and the skeletal remains of an infant are found, Detective Sarah Noble is called to investigate.

Mitchell said: ‘‘I’m thrilled at the prospect of working with my highly talented editor, Jane Snelgrove, and Embla Books again. They are an incredible team of people with genuine passion for each and every book. Thanks also to my agent, Madeleine Milburn, and her team for brokering this deal. I’m very excited to continue our journey together on all fronts.’

Mitchell’s Slayton Thriller series has had a strong start – with opening installment The Midnight Man reaching the top 10 in the Kindle chart and being shortlisted for an Audie Award. Both The Midnight Man and the second book in the series, The Night Whispers, are Kindle bestsellers.

Jane Snelgrove said: ‘Caroline is a master at her craft and I could not be more thrilled that we will be bringing her fans more books in the brilliant Slayton series – which I know will go from strength to strength. It is a delight to work together and I know readers are going to love The Bone House.’

Madeleine Milburn added: ‘It has been clear from the very beginning that Embla Books and Caroline’s editor, Jane Snelgrove, are the perfect home for the Slayton series, and I am incredibly proud of all that they have achieved together. The Bone House is going to delight fans of the series and I am thrilled to see its continued success.’

A New York Times, USA Today and Amazon No.1 bestselling author, Caroline Mitchell has topped many charts with her dark, psychological thrillers and procedurals. A former police detective, she now writes full time, with over 1.3 million books sold worldwide.

The Bone House will be published in ebook, paperback and audio in April, with another book to follow in 2024.
