Grabowska joins Embla Books as Senior Commissioning Editor as imprint celebrates best year yet

Embla Books, Bonnier Books UK’s digital-first imprint, is delighted to welcome Bea Grabowska to their team as Senior Commissioning Editor.

Grabowska joins from Hachette’s Headline where, as Commissioning Editor, she acquired award-winning author Heidi Stephens, CWA-shortlisted author Michelle Teahan and Helena Echlin’s Clever Little Thing from Pamela Dorman Books, whilst publishing digital bestsellers Olivia Beirne and Sarah Steele, and working on Victoria Hislop and Deborah Harkness’s publishing.

Bea will be joining Embla during an especially exciting time as they celebrate a hugely successful 2024, with a 65% growth in sales from the previous year. The imprint has now sold over 3 million copies since its launch in 2021 and is the proud home of bestselling authors such as Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, Lucy Coleman, Becca Day and Marius Gabriel, to name just a few. Embla achieved outstanding chart success last year, with authors like Dandy Smith, Laura Starkey, and Patricia Wolf dominating the charts and securing positions in the Top 5 UK Kindle bestsellers.

Martina Arzu, Editorial Director of Embla, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that Bea will be joining the imprint. Her experience overseeing Headline Accent and her contributions to The Future Bookshelf committee make her the perfect addition to our growing team. Bea is incredibly talented, creative, and passionate about the opportunities in digital publishing. I know she’ll bring tremendous energy and play a key role during this exciting time of expansion for Embla.”

Grabowska said: “It has been such a pleasure and a privilege to work with and learn from some of the most talented and inspiring colleagues and authors during my six years at Headline. I will miss everyone greatly, but I am ready and excited to be taking this next step in my career at Embla. They have such an impressive list and have seen phenomenal growth over the past few years, and I can’t wait to join their smart, dynamic and creative team.”

Grabowska joins the company this week, reporting into Editorial Director, Martina Arzu.

From January, commercial fiction submissions can be sent to Bea Grabowska at [email protected].
