James Lilford is joining Bonnier Books UK as editor at the Black & White Group, where he will work with Pete Selby at Nine Eight Books as well as providing support to the division’s Heligo and Black & White imprints in London.

Lilford was previously at Icon Books, where he worked as an editor across the company’s non-fiction titles, with particular focus on sports publishing. He brings a wealth of editorial experience, including a previous editorial role at Biteback which saw him manage popular culture, history and political titles.

James Lilford said: “I’m over the moon to be joining Bonnier Books UK and look forward to working with Pete at Nine Eight and with everyone at Heligo and Black & White in London. I have admired the brilliant publishing at Nine Eight from afar since the imprint started out a couple of years ago, and I can’t wait to start working with the team on some of the exciting books that they have in the pipeline.”

Pete Selby, publishing director for Nine Eight Books, added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming James to the Black & White Group at this exciting time in the division’s growth. His enthusiasm for our titles coupled with his vast experience and eye for detail will make him a wonderful addition to the team and the wider Bonnier business”

Lilford joins the company this week, reporting into Selby.
