Bonnier Books UK has appointed Jennifer Porter as head of marketing for Embla Books – its digital-first commercial fiction imprint, launching in autumn this year.
Porter was marketing manager at HQ before moving to Michael Joseph in 2018, where she worked across fiction and non-fiction. During that time, she was responsible for launching bestselling titles including Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers, Alex North’s The Whisper Man and Raynor Winn’s The Salt Path.
Porter will lead the marketing strategy for the imprint and curate innovative digital campaigns in the UK and US for every book published under the imprint. Working closely with the publishing and editorial team, and directly with authors, Porter will nurture communities of engaged readers with a focus on long-term author brand building. She will deliver creative, fully integrated publicity and marketing campaigns for Embla authors ranging from debut, to bestsellers.
Porter said: “Whilst it is bittersweet to be leaving my Penguin Michael Joseph friends and colleagues, I am beyond thrilled to join Bonnier and the wonderful Embla team. The vision, expertise and passion behind Embla from Emilie, Jane and Hannah was a perfect match. I am so glad to have the opportunity to join at this early stage and help create a new home for our authors, and bring these amazing books to life for consumers.”
Emilie Marneur, Digital & Business Development Director, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer on our team. She brings over a decade of experience in marketing and reaching consumers. She has in-depth knowledge of all key digital channels, is expert at using insights and data to inform decisions, and has an impressive track record of delivering successful marketing campaigns. Like the rest of the Embla team, Jennifer brings passion, expertise and amazing work ethics, and I wholeheartedly trust her to look after our books and authors.”
Jane Snelgrove, Publishing Director, added: “I am so pleased that Embla authors will be in Jennifer’s capable hands. It takes a lot of skill and ambition to build bestsellers and establish author brands and their audiences – and Jennifer has both in spades. She is creative, nimble and loved by the authors she works with; we are so lucky to have her.”
Porter joins the company in June, reporting into Emilie Marneur, Digital & Business Development Director.
