Blink Publishing, the commercial non-fiction imprint of Bonnier Books UK, has acquired Ten Steps to Prevent World War Three by Tobias Ellwood, former Foreign Minister, Defence Minister and Chair of the House of Commons Defence Committee.
Deputy MD Matt Phillips acquired World All Languages rights from Luigi Bonomi at LBA Books.
A blend of big ideas, personal narrative and geopolitical commentary, Ten Steps to Prevent World War Three is an urgent call-to-action outlining how we can prevent global conflict. Each chapter focuses on one of ten key steps which will lead us to a brighter, more peaceful future, ranging from diplomacy and political science to cyberwarfare and military defense.
Tobias Ellwood is a leading expert and commentator in the fields of geopolitics, foreign relations, military strategy, terrorism, defence, British politics, Ukraine, the Middle East, and NATO. His insights are informed by nearly two decades as a Member of Parliament (UK), during which he also served as a Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, and Chair of the House of Commons Defence Committee.
Tobias Ellwood said: ‘The original idea came from my time in Parliament, where I became increasingly aware of how limited our understanding often was of the deeper historical forces shaping today’s crises. With the world facing growing turmoil, my hope is this book will appeal to general readers and specialists alike, help them understand how we arrived at today’s complex geopolitical environment, and present a way forward.’
Matt Phillips said: ‘The last weeks and months have shown that we are living in unpredictable and unprecedented times. Tobias Ellwood’s book is the antidote – a calm, reasoned and surprisingly upbeat response. In clear, rational terms he outlines the stakes and navigates the road towards safety, stability and security. I am incredibly proud to be publishing this important work on Blink.’
Ellwood’s distinguished career began long before his time in Parliament. As an officer in the British Army’s Royal Green Jackets, he gained firsthand experience in military operations –experience that has deeply influenced his strategic approach to defence and international policy. Over the years, Ellwood’s engagements have ranged from private tea with Vladimir Putin, where he observed the inner workings of Russian diplomacy, to working closely with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on critical Middle East policy initiatives.
Ten Steps to Prevent World War Three by Tobias Ellwood will be published in hardback, audio and eBook on 9th July 2026.
